Location Overview

Morgantown is located in north-central West Virginia, approximately 75 miles south of Pittsburgh, PA, and 200 miles west of Washington, DC. Home to West Virginia University, Morgantown is easily accessible by car from several major metropolitan areas and has its own regional airport.

Direct Flights to Morgantown Municipal Airport (MGW)

Morgantown Municipal Airport (MGW) offers daily flights through United Express connecting to Chicago O’Hare (ORD) and Washington Dulles (IAD). Flight times are just over an hour from both locations.  As of 2/12/2025, Chicago flights arrive at 11:49PM and Dulles flights arrive at 10:03am.

Best Airport Option for Most: Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT)
Driving Distance:  75 miles (approximately 1.5 hours)

Rental Cars:
– All major rental car companies (Enterprise, Hertz, Avis, National) are available at PIT
– Located in the Ground Transportation area of the terminal

Shuttle Services:

From Washington DC Area Airports (IAD/DCA/BWI)
Driving Distance:
– From Dulles (IAD): 200 miles (approximately 3.5 hours)
– From Reagan National (DCA): 210 miles (approximately 4 hours)
– From BWI: 215 miles (approximately 4 hours)

Rental Cars:
– All major rental agencies present at all three airports
– Take I-270 to I-70 West to I-68 West into Morgantown

Local Transportation:
– Taxi services, Uber and Lyft operate in Morgantown
– Avis and Hertz have offices at the airport.  Enterprise Rent-A-Car has an office near the airport
– Mountain Line Transit provides public bus service from the airport to downtown (Route 9)
