Description

Directly responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and management of all forest engineering, road construction, capital road and bridge projects, operating and non-operating road maintenance, RMAP, habitat evaluation, grant projects, and land survey activities within the Pacific RU. Assists the Timber Harvest Planning Supervisor with 5 year harvest plan. Schedules and allocates resources to maintain desired lead of sale ready blocks.

Manages Engineering department composed of 7 members. Directly supervises three employees: Geomorphologist, Senior Engineer, and GIS Information Coordinator. Provides situational leadership to develop an engaged and highly functioning engineering team.

The SFI role of this position is the protection of water quality and soils, wildlife, to ensure long term forest productivity, efficient wood utilization, training of staff and contractors, aesthetics, and compliance with all forest practice laws relative to timber harvest, reforestation, forest management, and road construction and maintenance.     

The scope of this position includes collaboration between all departments to make business decisions in the best interest of Pacific RU and Rayonier.

Required Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree in Forest Engineering (preferred) or related field.

·         Minimum of 4 years in forest engineering (preferred) or civil engineering.

·         Minimum of 4 years of previous supervisory experience.

·         Working knowledge of engineering, surveying, logging and road construction.  Ability to plan and estimate costs on projects.
