Forest Business Research Coordinator, University of Georgia

The Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Georgia is searching for a Research Professional to assist in coordinating forest business-related research working in a team environment under the leadership of faculty in the Harley Langdale Jr. Center for Forest Business (CFB). The successful candidate will develop and implement field and analytical sampling methodology, perform data analysis, assist in preparation of written reports and research proposals, and travel to collect and present data at conferences. The candidate will support the mission of the CFB by managing and assisting undergraduate and graduate student research projects and supporting general Center activities as needed. Allocation of effort is expected to be: 50% research coordination, 25% research reports, 15% research proposals, 10% CFB support.

 

The position requires a Master’s degree with at least one degree in forestry preferred and a working knowledge of and interest in forest business and the southern U.S. wood supply chain. We seek candidates with the ability to coordinate and implement research projects and work effectively in a team environment; manage multiple projects simultaneously; assist in the development and implementation of field studies; contribute to refereed journal articles, project reports, and research proposals; and provide guidance to undergraduate and graduate students. The candidate must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), ArcGIS, and data analysis software; possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; be detail- oriented and demonstrate appropriate professional skills; and be qualified to drive University of Georgia vehicles. Forest business and forest operations-specific knowledge and research methods can be learned on the job. The successful candidate should have a strong interest in applied forestry and field data collection.

 

The position at the rank of Research Professional III has a salary that is commensurate with experience and qualifications, University System of Georgia benefits, and is available beginning October 1, 2023, or until filled.
