2014 Annual Meeting Call for Abstracts

I’m pleased to invite submission of abstracts for the 2014 Council on Forest Engineering (COFE) annual meeting to be held June 22 – 25 in Moline, Illinois, USA. The conference website is located at http://wordpress.cfans.umn.edu/cfe/. The theme for the 2014 COFE meeting is “Global Harvesting Technology”. Technical presentations that address the following four sub-themes are sought. Other applied forest engineering and operations topics may also be accepted.

• Technological innovations in forest operations
• Global challenges in a changing forestry landscape
• Business improvement opportunities in the forest industry
• Innovations in biomass harvesting

Abstracts are due by January 31, 2014.

Please include the following information in each abstract (see guidelines):

  • Proposed title of the paper or poster

  • An indication as to whether it is a paper or a poster

  • Information about each author (name, author affiliation)

  • Abstract (250 word maximum)

  • If you are a student submitting an abstract and you would like your full paper to be considered by the Awards Committee for the Student Communication Award, please note that on your abstract.

Authors will be notified of abstract acceptance by February 17 with full papers due by May 1. Complete instructions for authors will be sent with the notification of acceptance. All accepted final papers will be a maximum of seven pages in length, will be accompanied by an oral presentation, will be distributed electronically to all conference participants at the annual meeting, and will be available on-line to all COFE members (www.cofe.org). Opportunities for poster presentations will also be available.

COFE is an international professional organization formed to foster the development of forest engineering in industry, government, and education in order to promote the best methods of managing and operating forests, both private and public.
